Definition: Pet dander is created from dead skin cells that are shed by animals and stick to their fur and feathers, as well as other surfaces. Proteins in the dander can trigger allergy and asthma symptoms. It is not an animal's hair that triggers symptoms, but the fluids in an animal's urine and saliva found on the hair.
