Definition: Eosinophils are a type of white blood cell known as leukocytes that tend to accumulate during allergic reactions. They release chemicals that cause bronchoconstriction.

Eosinophils are produced in the bone marrow, and then migrate to various tissues throughout the body. When you come into contact with an asthma trigger, white blood cells release chemicals that attract eosinophils. The eosinophils then release toxic chemicals designed to destroy the trigger.
